Post from Tuesday, September 25th

I’m so excited that I had to blog today. I have some great news! Yesterday we had the Miss America Lottery, a process that helps determine the contestant order for the Miss America competition. This order determines what nights you compete in the different areas of competition (ex: talent, swimsuit, etc.) and what other state contestants are in your group.

During this process, all 52 contestants sit down at a computer, at the same time, and watch as the computer randomly draws a state’s name. When your state pops up, you get to call in and pick your competition slot. I don’t know how, but yesterday I was picked first – it was crazy! I was so excited when my state popped up on the screen that I could barely dial the phone number to call in and make my request. It was hilarious! I really thought I would be sitting there hours waiting and waiting, but I got lucky, really lucky.

I’m excited to let you know that I will be the final contestant in the Alpha Group at Miss America 2008. This means that I will compete as follows:
Monday, January 21st (afternoon) - Interview
Tuesday, January 22nd – Talent Preliminary
Wednesday, January 23rd - On-Stage Question Preliminary
Thursday, January 24th - Swimsuit and Evening Gown Preliminary.

I’m hoping this is a good omen for me! At the very least, it made my week ;)

On Cloud Nine,

Diana
